Guam - The National Weather Service and island lifeguards are urging residents to exercise extreme caution when swimming, as a High Surf Advisory remains in effect until Tuesday. Strong rip currents were enough to strand a surfer who thought he'd catch a few big waves.

Department of Parks and Recreation lifeguards were fortunately able to rescue him outside the reef area.

A north swell of 6' today will cause hazardous surf of between 8-10' through early tomorrow morning.  This surf has also resulted in a high rip current risk for north facing reefs.

You are advised to avoid venturing near exposed beaches and reefs as they may be life threatening.
