AFT finds GFT violated constitution
Guam - The Guam Federation of Teachers violated its constitution a number of times - those were the findings of an investigation conducted by the American Federation of teachers. Western Regional Director Sol Smith found that the GFT president and the executive council violated the union constitution when it elected delegates to attend the AFT's convention last year and when amendments were made to the constitution dealing with an election held several years ago.
Outspoken critic of the GFT leadership Carol Somerfleck said, "All of these are violations. Violations of our democratic procedures every member has the right to. These are critical violations. I wish they would've been more strong in their position on what they would do but it doesn't say what they're going to do for this. They only said yes, there are violations."
The investigation findings did note that some of the complaints were filed years after the fact.
