Guam - The Department of Education is using Christmas Break period to play catch-up on making overdue repairs at the island's public schools. DOE Facilities and Maintenance Manager Billy Cruz says his workers will be making the repairs, especially to the areas that were pointed out this past semester by the Education Suruhanu and the Health and Safety Task Force.

"We are currently having our employees go out and fix many of these pending work requests out there that needs to be fixed before we get any of the regulatory agencies to come out and inspect the schools to ensure we keep up our standards," said Cruz.

The Health and Safety Task Force is expected to continue school inspections when students return to class.
