Guam - Students have proven that pollution hurts the marine environment and the creatures that inhabit it. University of Guam students Paula Lozada, Ciemon Caballes and Roxie Diaz recently saved a turtle that they found tangled in an abandoned fishing net. According to UOG, the three were surveying Tumon Bay coral and fish as part of their work on Guam's long-term coral reef monitoring program.
Marine Lab director Laurie Raymundo says the photo should serve as a reminder to treat the ocean with respect and refrain from disposing of trash or litter in the ocean.
