Guam - The Department of Public Health conducted tuberculosis skin testing today for more than 700 students and faculty members at Maria Ulloa Elementary School in Dededo. According to TB Control Program Administrator Cecilia Arciaga, everyone on campus was tested to be on the safe side. Consent forms were sent home over a week ago.
"We have set a deadline for October 11," said Arciaga. "If test results are not in by that time, you can't have your kid in school or faculty will not be teaching, as well."
A staff member at the campus tested positive for active TB. Arciaga says Public Health will be reading these tests on Thursday. If individuals are tested positive, they would need to undergo chest x-rays and will be given preventative treatment.
