Guam securing grant for specialty crops

The Guam Department of Agriculture is in line to receive a $183,000 grant from the USDA. Deputy Agriculture Secretary Kathleen Merrigan made the announcement during the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Annual Meeting.

Guam - The Guam Department of Agriculture is in line to receive a $183,000 grant from the USDA. Deputy Agriculture Secretary Kathleen Merrigan made the announcement during the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Annual Meeting. The funding is part of block grants to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops, defined as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops including floriculture.

A total of 55 grants are being awarded to several agriculture departments across the country totaling $55 million.
