Guam - Federal money has been awarded to the Guam Community College allowing the institution to proceed with architecture and engineering designs for a DNA lab and toxicology facilities at the crime lab. Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Areas Tony Balata signed a $365,000 Capital Improvement Project Grant award.
GCC vice-president for academic affairs Ray Somera told KUAM News, "We really need to train more people in this field and the opportunity to train right here on our island presents a great opportunity to develop the expertise locally."
The grant will expand GCC's criminal justice program and strengthen its curriculum.
