Guam - The Guam Fire Department just barely made the deadline to submit its application for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz issued a letter to the fire chief applauding the agency for submitting the application on time.

The SAFER grant will fund the department to allow them to increase the number of personnel. Cruz states, "Grants like these are especially beneficial to our island, as we are faced with limited resources."
