Guam - Day One of the jury trial for Officer Steven Topasna began in Superior Court today. The Guam Police officer faces charges of assault and official misconduct for allegedly beating Ray Gagarin because he thought the man was the person who damaged his vehicle.

The officer who arrived at Gagarin's home the night of the incident took the stand today and answered questioned about how Gagarin was injured.  Last year the Dededo man told KUAM News that Topasna came to his home and assaulted him.

The trial continues on Monday.
