Guam - Recent changes in regulations for fishing in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands may affect local fishermen.  The Western Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Council is hosting a scoping meeting tonight at the Fisherman's Co-Op.

President Manny Duenas is encouraging all local bottom fishermen to attend, telling KUAM News, "A favorite fishing ground is called 'Icebox', just south of Rota, north of Guam. And that is in CNMI waters. And that is of concern to local fisherman. Again, its one of our favorite fishing areas. So the bottom fisherman should come out to this meeting and understand the new rules. We'd hate to see our local fisherman get arrested."

That meeting begins at 7.  If you can't make it you can get more information at WPCouncil.org.
