Guam - The Department of Public Health's Women, Infants & Children program hosted breastfeeding training at the University of Guam today. The event is presented by the center for breastfeeding and focused on providing guidance and support to mothers. WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator Adelina Portela says mothers are encouraged their breastfeed their children until he or she turns a year old.

"Talking to mothers in the WIC program, most of our moms really like breastfeeding because of the bonding and if they have several children, they've also noticed that their children are healthier and if they get sick, the duration is very short," he said.

Training is ongoing through Friday and continues next Monday and Tuesday.
