Guam - The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1586 - the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act.  The measure provides a total of $10 billion for an Education Jobs Fund and $16.1 billion in Medicaid assistance to the states and territories.  As part of $10 billion in education funds, Guam will receive approximately $20.1 million in financial assistance to support elementary and secondary education jobs.

These additional funds will be administered by the U.S. Department of Education. The Senate Amendment also provides increased assistance to Guam and the U.S. territories for the federal Medicaid program.

This new funding increases Guam's Medicaid cap by an additional $2 million in the second and third quarters of Fiscal Year 2011.
