Guam - Former Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye has strong ties to the island, being married to Trisha Flores. The two have three kids together and were on island recently spending time with the family and friends. Jermaine was accompanied by brother in law Joaquin Flores who took him around and showed him what the island life had to offer.

Said Flores, "The last time I was here was like 7 years ago, and my father came back to visit family and this time around coming back I brought my brother in law. It's good to be back on island and we caught a Wahu and just hanging out with family and friends and just strolling around the island." Dye was the 2005 World Series MVP, he is a two time All-Star, 2006 Silver Slugger Winner, 2005 Babe Ruth Award Winner and a 2000 Gold Glove Award Winner.

Dye told KUAM Sports, "You know. I didn't know what to expect at first, being from the states we go to island like Cabo, Hawaii, and Aruba and didn't know what to expect. I knew it was going to be a long plane flight and just dreaded that but once we got here the weather was great and the people, I didn't expect the people to be so friendly and nice and welcome you on to their island with open arms. We've had a blast and have been all over the island and we have net a lot of people and have been able to experience a lot of great things here, good shopping, great fishing and it's just been a great experience and you don't go to different places and cultures and experience different things the way we've done and we've been welcomed here and that's been great."

Jermaine has a .274 batting average with 325 homeruns and 1,072 RBIs throughout his career. He says he will be back to visit and plans on doing a lot more fishing next time he's here. He continued, "Definitely, I plan to come back and it may not be every year but I've already met his uncle who is a big time fisherman out here and he has told us about the fishing derbies they have out here and stuff like that.

"He invited us to come back and hang with them during the derby and just how to experience how they do things out here."
