Guam - The Guam Waterworks Authority has made significant progress toward obtaining financing to fund the remainder of stipulated order projects and other capital improvements.  The agency has hit a snag though in obtaining tens of millions of dollars through a bond issuance because of delays in the procurement for insurance.

In the latest status report to the District Court, GWA also clarified that Younex has not begun construction of its workforce housing project because GWA has not signed-off a building permit. Additionally, the agency says it will have the capacity to serve the development.

GWA is also in the process of implementing a number of recommendations outlined in a management audit and they reported making significant improvements to the wastewater system through the development of fat, oil, and grease pretreatment/prevention program.
