Guam - The Mayor's Council of Guam honored those in the military by hosting an Armed Services Recognition Day at the Asan Memorial Park today. Secretary of the MCOG Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon Vice-Mayor Louise Rivera says the event was planned in conjunction with other Liberation Day festivities.
She says Chalan Pago Mayor Jesse Gogue came up with the idea to plan the event to recognize our heroes. "This is our way of saying ‘thank you'. We use the whole month of July. We prepare for it all year long. The whole month of July is to give back to all our armed forces - our heroes, not only the military personnel, but our own personnel - our teachers, the fire department," she said.
A liberation mass will be held tomorrow at the Cathedral Basilica in Hagatna beginning at 9:30am.
