Guam - Drug smugglers are getting more and more creative on ways to try to bring in drugs to Guam. Two people arrived off a flight from Manila yesterday, and were caught trying to smuggle 64.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine in the handle of a straw broom.
Joven Banayat and Rommel Whiting were interviewed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Whiting told authorities they had gone to the Philippines to get Ice and hid them in brooms before. Banayat later admitted to smuggling more than 500 grams of the drug into the island since March.
Both have been taken into custody and are charged in a federal complaint with importation of methamphetamine.
