Guam - The Guam Fire Department reports that they have four medics today to service the entire island. GFD Spokesperson Joey San Nicolas says the units are located at the Yigo, Tamuning, Yona and Umatac fire stations.
GFD is waiting for three units at Triple J, two of which are waiting on purchase orders and one that is waiting for parts. Fleet Maintenance Management says they have five units, including one that is also awaiting parts. Recent legislation was passed to freed up what was believed to be $100,000 from the FLAME Fund to make repairs, however, Captain Rueben Olivas says the issue has hit another speed bump.
He said, "Their hitting delay after delay after delay. They are trying to get some money through the roundtable discussion where Senator [Ray] Tenorio and also Senator [Adolpho] Palacios tried to appropriate $100,000 from the FLAME Fund, unfortunately nobody checked the balance of the FLAME Fund, they found out later on that there was on $30,000, so they were short."
