Guam - The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sequoia, homeported in Apra Harbor, received a certificate of appreciation from the Drug Enforcement Administration for outstanding contributions in the field of drug law enforcement this week.  The accolade stems from its interdiction of the vessel Kin Yue 1 last December. The vessel from Hong Kong was suspected of transporting cocaine from South America to China.

The Sequoia's crew was recognized for its persistent pursuit of the vessel, which prevented the landing of 1 metric ton of cocaine ashore.
