Guam - An aircraft's engines caught fire while en route to Guam from Saipan landed at the Guam International Airport Authority this morning. Fortunately, the emergency was only simulated as part of a tabletop exercise.

GIAA Executive Manager Mary Torres says the training is required annually to ensure first responders are adequately prepared in the event of a real-life emergency on the runway.  "It keeps us actively prepared, you always have a manual but its always important to run through, do the drills and constantly train, do the little glitches and make sure everybody knows what your doing and who your suppose to call," she explained.

The exercise included methods of how officials respond to a crash site, especially when there are fatalities.
