Guam - A 45-year-old man is dead after he was involved in a head-on car collision this morning in Dededo. The Guam Police Department's Highway Patrol Division was activated to the scene on Ysengsong Road near Park Market just before eight o'clock.
Medics had to use the Jaws of Life to pry a man from his vehicle. Traffic investigators spent the morning investigating the crash, measuring the scene and conducting interviews. Highway Patrol Division Sergeant R.J. Santos said, "A 2007 Nissan Versa was traveling southbound and a 1992 Toyota Tercel was traveling northbound, both vehicles collided. The operator of the versa is a 61-year-old female; the operator of the Tercel was a 45-year-old male - he passed away around 8:40 this morning."
The woman was transported to Naval Hospital in Agana Heights for treatment of her injuries. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the accident and have not released the identity of the man who died this morning.
His death marks the eighth traffic-related fatality of 2010.
