Guam - The Department of Education has hired an engineer after being without one for the past 12 years. According to DOE Legal Counsel Fred Nishihara, Chris Benson was hired to help in light of the department receiving millions of dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Benson formerly worked with the Guam Environmental Protection Agency as an engineer. His first task is to give a final review on specifications for the interim JFK High School campus to determine if school needs will be met.

Once that review is complete, DOE will be meeting with the Governor's Office on the matter.
