Guam - Yigo Mayor Bob Lizama says he will be meeting with Government of Guam agencies, more specifically with the Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, to determine what's going to happen next when it comes to the deep-seeded fire in his village that has been creating a blanket of smoke in the neighborhood near Chalan Ifil. Late yesterday afternoon, Governor Felix Camacho declared a state of emergency for the situation.

Lizama tells KUAM News he will also be meeting with residents in the surrounding areas to determine what course of action will be taken next. For the time being, residents should consult their doctor if they encounter respiratory problems.

The dump was issued a notice of violation by the Guam Environmental Protection Agency seven years ago.
