Ship runs aground on Magundus Reef
Guam - Coast Guard Sector Guam Command Center received a mayday call from the recreation craft Temple Dawn, which had run aground at Magundus Reef with four people on board. All four individuals made it ashore safely, but the vessel was hard aground in the reef and was a potential risk to the environment with 500 gallons of diesel fuel on board.
According to a release from the Coast Guard, the vessel owner contracted Guam Refinery and Environmental Services Company and they had removed the fuel from the vessel under the supervision of the Guam Environmental Protection Agency and the USCG. The timely response prevented a potential pollution incident, which could've affected Guam's waters and marine life.
The owner is working with agencies to salvage the vessel.
