Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo has sent a letter to U.S. Marine Corps Commandant General James T. Conway requesting full military honors for the funeral of John Gerber on Guam.  Bordallo stated, "Gerber dedicated his life to the Marine Corps and to helping veterans living on Guam".  She adds, "It is only fitting that Gerber's full military honors be provided by the Marine Corps in recognition of his contributions to the Marine Corps, his service to our nation, and his work on behalf of all of Guam's veterans."

Gerber is a retired USMC sergeant who served in the 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War. He is known for creating/curating the Pacific War Museum in Maina, which that displays his personal collection of World War II memorabilia; he also played a huge role in renaming Marine Drive to Marine Corps Drive.

Rosaries are being held at 7pm nightly at the San Juan Bautista church in Ordot. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 15.
