Guam - John F. Kennedy High School students are hoping to garner more support from the community to have their school rebuilt and soon. Students and faculty will host a 'Rebuild JFK' petition drive tomorrow at the Guam Premier Outlets in Tamuning.
The petition seeks the community's support as the Guam Community Improvement Foundation intends to appeal Superior Court Judge Arthur Barcinas' decision dismissing their suit against the Office of the Public Auditor. JFK High teacher Angelo Andres told KUAM News, "We really would like to move forward in the construction of JFK, and if Mr. Tony Sgro does pursue and appeal to the Supreme Court, it will delay construction another two or three years."
The GCIF expressed concerns about how International Bridge Corporation was deemed the most qualified offeror, as there were cheaper bids for larger campuses. Additionally, the organization questions why IBC increased its contract by an additional $22,000,000.
The GCIF has a few more weeks to file a notice of appeal with the Guam Supreme Court.
