Guam - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has named Jeff Pleadwell an environmental hero.  The local businessman was recognized for his contributions to ocean safety, weather reporting, and coral reef preservation.

Pleadwell has played a huge role in placing marine safety signs and providing daily surf and rainfall observations to the local National Weather Service.  The proud recipient, "I guess only ten people win this award and it's a national award and it makes me feel food I like it its good."

NOAA established the environmental hero awards in 1995 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Earth Day by honoring volunteers who help NOAA carry out its mission.
