Guthertz talks buildup with new commander

Guam - Chairperson of the Legislative Committee on the Military Buildup, Senator Judith Guthertz welcomed the new commander of Joint Region Marianas, Rear Admiral Paul Bushong, with a crash course on the expansion of troops locally. Guthertz sent a letter to the new commander, which includes ten different documents containing comments on the Joint Guam Program Office's Draft Environmental Impact Statement, along with a couple of legislative resolutions expressing strong opposition to land condemnation for the buildup.
Senator Guthertz also included her proposal that scraps plans for a new carrier berth in Apra Harbor, sparing an estimated 71 acres of live coral that the Navy wants to dredge for its project.
