Guam - The Department of Public Health and Social Services confirms there are now five confirmed cases of the mumps.  "Two cases are epidemiologically linked to the first confirmed case. An investigation to determine the possible exposure is on-going," according to a media release.

A case of the mumps was reported at Simon Sanchez High School in Yigo a few weeks ago, and another case reported at John F. Kennedy High School in Tiyan earlier this week.

DPHSS encourages parents to check their children's shot records to ensure they received all age-appropriate vaccines. All parents should ensure their child receives the first dose of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine at 12 months of age, then a second dose of MMR vaccine at 4-6 years of age.
