Guam - A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for money to signify the start of roadwork for the tri-intersection of Route8, 10 and 16. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday in Barrigada. The project includes the reconstruction of the roads at the intersection of Route 8/10/16. This work will involve the complete reconstruction of 1600 feet of Route 8/16 and 520 feet of Route 10. There will also be construction work on 520 feet of Route 8A.
The project consists of removal of the existing pavement and replacing it with Portland Cement Concrete Pavement. The new concrete pavement will be overlaid with asphalt concrete pavement for improved skid resistance of the roadway. The project also consists of constructing a new traffic signal system at the 8/10/16 intersection.
This project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration as part of the Territorial Transportation Improvement Plan (TTIP), which identifies roadway improvement projects through fiscal year 2011.
The project, valued at $4,502,542.33, was awarded to Kinden Corporation.
