Guam - A hearing in DC will be held tomorrow on two measures dealing with the establishment of a visitor center for the Marianas Trench Marine Monument. A bill introduced by Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo calls for the center to be on Guam, while the CNMI's delegate in Washington Gregorio Sablan's bill mandates it be built in the commonwealth.
The Marianas Trench was designated as a national marine monument by former president George W. Bush who signed a proclamation just before he left office.
