Guam - The American Federation of Teachers has spoken to Guam Federation of Teachers president Matt Rector about his recent arrest.  AFT president Randi Weingarten issued a statement saying Rector explained his previous actions and thought his conviction had been expunged and therefore did not disclose the conviction.

Rector was recently arrested and charged with two counts of unsworn falsification for failing to disclose his conviction when applying for gun and concealed weapons permits with the police department.  Weingarten did not provide any other comments on rector's arrest or the organization's position.

The Attorney General's Office meanwhile is still reviewing Rector's case and is waiting for the arrest report before deciding if they will pursue prosecution.
