Guam - Senator Ben Pangelinan sent a letter to the Guam Attorney General's Office requesting that they look into developing a plan of action to have the federal government contribute to the cost of the environmental remediation at the Ordot Dump. Pangelinan says it's his understanding that the dump has met the qualifications under the Superfund Program and he is requesting that the AG file the appropriate court actions to access these funds, which can be used towards the $40 million, estimated for the cleanup effort.

He told KUAM News, "Some of the pollution that has occurred to the ground water and the clean water in the river is a result of the earlier dumping of military trash at the Ordot Dump. We've contributed after it was turned over to us."
