Guam - The American Federation of Teachers is declining to comment on Tuesday's arrest of Guam Federation of Teachers president Matt Rector.  The AFT said it's not a union issue, and therefore won't comment.

Rector was arrested late Tuesday afternoon by Criminal Investigation Division agents with the Guam Police Department, charged with two counts of unsworn falsification.  The charges stem from Rector's failure to disclose a burglary misdemeanor conviction when he applied for gun and concealed firearms permits.  The conviction also made him ineligible to run for office, which resulted in him stepping down as senator prompting the need for the upcoming special election.

Rector and his attorney, Daniel Sommerfleck, both declined to comment about the arrest.
