Guam - The Department of Public Works will be breaking ground on a new four-way traffic intersection in Barrigada between the Guam Main Facility post office and the Guam National Guard Readiness Center on Tuesday at 10am. DPW Director Larry Perez says the new intersection will provide easier access for those going into the Readiness Center in an effort to prevent accidents from occurring in the area.

"Just south of that road on Route 16, whenever they have an exercise, there's always this long congestive line going in and out of the Guam Army National Guard. There's also increased hazard because there's no traffic signalization," said Perez.

Meanwhile, Perez says a groundbreaking ceremony will also take place on a $4 million seawall project at the Port Authority of Guam in the next week. Perez says this new project will prevent rough seas from damaging port roadways.
