Guam - The U.S. Army Recruiting Office officially opened in Dededo today.  The office covers the islands of Guam, Pohnpei, Chuuk and Kosrae.  Lieutenant Colonel Leonard Law, the recruiting battalion commander based in Portland, Oregon, was on hand for today's grand opening at Macheche Plaza.

"Historically," said the officer, "The Pacific Islands have been a population that really desires to serve in the military so we provide that opportunity for the young men and women out here. The purpose for opening the station here today is to give them the additional opportunity and cut down some of the travel they have to do to get to our other station down south."
