Guam - In response to Senator Rory Respicio's request to convene the Guam First Commission, the island's chief executive says while the organization was well intentioned, he maintains it would not work. Camacho doesn't intend to convene the Commission at all.
"Certainly," said Governor Camacho, "each one of these guys who want to be governor some day have to recognize that the authority of the Executive Branch rests with the governor." He added, "I'm not going to waste taxpayer dollars on challenging this in court. I continue to convene the committee, the Civilian Military Task Force, all the work that's been had over the years and good work at that, because this is not just a way to undermine me by the Legislature, but rather undermine the work of people throughout the community."
