Guam - Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz sent a letter to Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo and Governor Felix Camacho this afternoon requesting more time to review and comment on the massive DEIS document.  The Vice-Speaker referenced U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's decision to allow Japan until May of this year to reach a final agreement on whether or not Japan will insist on the relocation of the Futenma Air Station in Okinawa as a sticking point in the U.S.-Japan agreement.

The U.S. Government maintains that the Marine relocation to Guam will not take place if the Futenma air base must be moved.  Cruz also stated in his letters that the level of participation by the community during the recent public hearings on the DEIS show how seriously the people of Guam feel about the affects of the buildup on the island and noted that each review of the DEIS raises more questions for the people of Guam.
