Guam - Senator Judi Guthertz says the Legislative Ethics Committee is prepared for the full hearing on the conflict of interest complaint filed by Port Authority of Guam chairman Monte Mesa against Senator Matt Rector. The panel issued a subpoena to Senator Rector to appear before the committee as they discuss whether Rector used his legislative budget for Guam Federation of Teachers activities, and whether the freshman policymaker is prohibited from negotiating matter related to pay scales for PAG employees.
The committee also issued a subpoena to Mesa. Said Guthertz, "I am very certain that senator rector will be there with his attorney tomorrow. Then we will have an opportunity to go through the facts as presented and determined and verified and decide any further action that may or may not be needed."
The Ethics Committee is scheduled to meet at 9:30 tomorrow morning in the Legislature's Public Hearing Room in Hagatna.
