Hara's complaint against Rector released
by Nick Delgado
Guam - The Legislative Ethics Committee released the most recent complaint filed against Senator Matt Rector by Consolidated Commission on Utilities board member Eloy Hara. The formal complaint was delivered to the committee on December 17. Hara notes senator Rector signed an affidavit claiming that he had not been committed of any felony, misdemeanor or crime of moral turpitude, despite Rector admitting to his conviction on Facebook.
While Hara encourages the committee to have Rector show proof that his conviction was not misdemeanor of moral turpitude, Hara also argues that Rector has been paying the Guam Federation of Teachers his senatorial lease/rent. The committee has also tasked its legal counsel, Attorney Anthony Camacho to secure Rector's burglary conviction records in California.
Meanwhile the Ethics panel is scheduled to meet on January 6 to discuss its legal counsel's review of a conflict of interest complaint filed by Port board chairman Monte Mesa. Mesa argues that Rector serves as the chair on the committee of labor while as president of the GFT.
