Guam - The Guam Fire Department upgraded its E-911 services to better assist hearing and speech impaired individuals when making emergency calls.  The service is an addition to the department's Telecommunication Device for the Deaf system.

It allows GFD the capability to receive phone text messaging for those with a hearing or speech disability when a TDD system is not available or for all others when voice communication is unavailable.

The emergency number is 687-0657.
