Guam - The Department of Corrections has received $714,000 in funding over the last three months.  $214,000 is from the State Criminal Aliens Assistance Program and will go towards supplementing the agency's budget.  That can be used for anything from personnel, to training, to supplies.

The other half-million is from Compact impact funds and will help the agency purchase two new back up generators.  Director J.B. Palacios said, "The generators that we currently have in both Mangilao and Hagatna are more than fifteen years old and in the event of a power outage or a prolonged power outage I don't have the luxury of telling 560+ people on average a day to go home and come back."
