Calvo's bill aims to help DOE cash shortage
Senator Eddie Calvo has introduced legislation that he contends will address the Department of Education's budget shortfall as well as the funding crisis facing the I Famagu'on-Ta program.
Guam - Senator Eddie Calvo has introduced legislation that he contends will address the Department of Education's budget shortfall as well as the funding crisis facing the I Famagu'on-Ta program. Senator Calvo saying there is $7.4 million in the unreserved fund balance of the territorial education facilities fund, of that amount, Senator Calvo introduced Bill 235 in September appropriating $2.5 million to I Famagu'on-Ta, DOE and other programs.
That bill has not yet been heard.
The remaining of the unreserved fund balance is $4.87 million. Senator Calvo wants that money to be appropriated to help cover DOE's shortfall. Bill 292, which was introduced Wednesday will make that appropriation.
