Guam - The Annual District Court Conference opens the door for dialogue between members of the local bar and judges on the bench, allowing them to discuss major issues and developments in the judicial system. The conference drew more than 150 participants today.
District Court Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood says with the impending military buildup there were discussions on immigration laws to help educate judges and practitioners as there will be an increase in foreign workers. "We hope to raise the bar to ensure that our judges and lawyers practice the highest standards when they preside over a case in court or when they bring a case to court," she said.
