Guam - While lawmakers are scheduled to return to session as early as December 14, it remains to be seen whether the highly-controversial Bill 185 will be on the agenda. The bill's author, Vice-Speaker BJ Cruz, says he is waiting on the Committee on Rules to meet later next week to vote on whether the measure will be put on the agenda.
Cruz, who is currently off-island, is urging his colleagues to do so saying he is ready for the matter to be voted on. Bill 185 has been revised several times to address concerns raised in the community about same-sex civil unions and the associated benefits.
Senator Frank Aguon, Jr. says his committee has yet to finalize the report but he expects that to happen sometime next week before the committee on rules meets to iron out the next session agenda.
