The Department of Revenue & Taxation will open again tomorrow from 7 to noon because of major electrical problems that began yesterday.  Agency Deputy Director Paul Pablo says the department's landlord, PriceSmart, consulted its electrical contractor and engineer to pinpoint the exact problem.

At this point, the department is focused on getting up and running again.  "We are only operating with minimal lighting, our computer equipment is not functional, the delivery of services - we are issuing temporary drivers licenses, temporary vehicle registrations, and also in the other areas for example with business license renewals they are entertaining conditional licenses, but it's very difficult to do any types of clearance checks because of the fact that the computer system is down," he said.

The department is still taking tax and other related payments and online services may be interrupted.  The department will entertain requests for waivers of penalties until the problems are completely fixed.

Operations for Wednesday are slated to be from 7-12 noon if the problem is not rectified.
