Sara (Sara Paxton) and her college friends spend their vacation at Sara's Louisiana lake island cabin. But when a shark viciously injures one of her friends and causes their boat to explode, the friends are forced to find another way off the island. How did the sharks get there?

"Shark Night" is a campy horror film with weak scares and an even weaker plot. Perhaps this is due to it's compromising to fit the PG-13 rating. I'm not saying that a 'R' rating is required to make a good horror movie, but I think it is required if you want to make a good campy horror movie. "Shark Night" does not have the element of suspense and tension that teen camp films like "I Know What You Did Last Summer" or the "Scream" franchise had. If the film had followed the mold of "Piranha 3D" closer, it would have been much better. Instead, what we are left with is a bare bones film that never reached it's promise.
