The 2009 boys high school soccer season got underway at various fields around the island. The defending champion Harvest Eagles took the field, hosting the Southern Dolphins. Last year's champs had a couple of nice attacks at the goal, but weren't able to capitalize on their attempts as Southern's keeper came through with big saves.
Southern led 2-0 in the first half getting a score off a penalty kick and another off a low shot that found the far left post. Southern held on for the win to start the season at 1-0.
In other action Guam High, Okkodo and FD all received wins in their opening matches.
