Let's take it to the mat for some high school wrestling highlights, as the Dolphins of Southern High edged out the Father Duenas Friars 60-20 in yesterday's action from the Phoenix Center in Mangilao, with most of those wins coming off forfeits.

In the 160-lb. weight class, FD's Jerome Valencia took on Southern's Darren Tenerio. Valencia controlled majority of the match, quickly taking Tenorio to the mat, where he eventually earned the win via pin, with 10 seconds left into the 1st round. In the 112-lb. weight class, Paulo Ledesma handed Dolphin's Ivan Monosa a loss in the 3rd round.   Ledesma and Monosa split the first two rounds, as both athletes tacked on the points off several takedowns and counters.

But Ledesma made sure that Monosa would not make a comeback, as he executed a half-nelson midway through the 3rd, pinning Monosa and earning the win with a 1:10 left into the 3rd.

Southern's Shane Torres came out victorious in one the matches against the Friars' Alejo Santos in the 125-lb. weight class. Torres quickly subdued Santos, taking him to the mat where he secured the north-and-south position.  From that point on, Torres used his strength and leverage, where he earned his win via pin.
