The government of the Republic of Palau announced today that it had accepted the transfer of six ethnic Uighurs formerly detained at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba. According to a release from Palau President Johnson Toribiong, while in Palau the detainees will participate in a structured program of education and training intended to assist them in their transition back into civil society.

The government will provide medical care, room and board, and education to the detainees until they're prepared to integrate into the Palauan community.
