About 100 ratepayers getting prepaid meters

The Guam Power Authority received the green light to move ahead with its $280,000 BPL Global prepaid meter pilot project. This means about 100 customers will be given prepaid meters, allowing them to pay their bills online, never receive disconnection notices, and even monitor energy consumption resulting in a 10-12% decrease in power bills.
GPA Spokesperson Art Perez said, "It's pay-as-you-go, so you won't have to deal with monthly billings, you won't have to deal with deposits and you can monitor your energy consumption at that level too. As an added benefit, the prepaid meters are also smart grid-compatible."
